Selenite
Stone of Reconciliation
Thou silver deity of secret night,
Direct my footsteps through the woodland shade;
Thou conscious witness of unknown delight,
The Lover’s guardian, and the Muse’s aid!
By thy pale beams I solitary rove,
To thee my tender grief confide;
Serenely sweet you gild the silent grove,
My friend, my goddess, and my guide.
E’en thee, fair queen, from thy amazing height,
The charms of young Endymion drew;
Veil’d with the mantle of concealing night;
With all thy greatness and thy coldness too.
Selenite is an elegant crystal. Most often in a white and translucent color pairing, she is reminiscent of the moon. Like the moon, Selenite brings illumination to the dark. Harmony, balance, and peace reside in this lovely stone. She fosters understanding of diverse perspectives, quiets the noise of the mind, and encourages deep reflection. With this stone you can integrate your true self in all your lunar incarnations: your full self, your retracting self, your growing self, and your new self. In ancient times, Selenite was use to make windows, allowing light to flow into dark rooms. She still has that luminescent quality.

Sacred Story
In the Greek tradition, Selene was the moon herself. Sister to the Sun (Helios), Selene also drove a chariot pulled by two white horses, travelling as the moon through the night sky. This goddess was often described as strikingly beautiful, with long thick tresses and a golden diadem. She was the “eye of the night”, casting her benevolent charms upon the evening. It came to pass that one night she saw a mortal man named Endymion who was sleeping upon the earth. A passionate love drew her down from the heavens to kiss the beautiful boy. In his sleep, this heavenly bride consorted with him, producing fifty daughters.
