Ruby
This priceless ruby comes from a mine of its own,
This rare pearl is pregnant with a character its own;
Our different dogmas on this matter are erroneous,
since the enigma of perfect love
is explained in a language of its own.
Rubies are rich and powerful. Long associated with life-sustaining blood, it was often favored by warriors. Some thought it could make the wearer invincible. Others believed that it gave protection from wounds. When worn, ruby was thought to preserve one from peril. Those who risk their lives, especially in protection of others, were believed to have a special connection to the gem. As a stone of royalty, Ruby is often used in coronation rings. It is said to benefit and protect its owner’s estates as well as improving their accumulation of wealth. It appears to specifically attract more gemstones. Wear this stone on the left side, as being closer to the heart makes all its properties stronger.

Sacred Story
Myanmar (Burma) is the home of many traditions surrounding the ruby. In the beginning, a serpent built a beautiful nest and laid three marvelous eggs. The first egg hatched the King of Pagan, the first king to unite Burma. The second egg hatched the first Emperor of China. The third and final egg produced the ruby mines of Burma. Some of the rubies were deep red (masculine) and some were paler in color (feminine), It was believed that a paler stone could be buried back in the earth and it would ripen into a richer red. Flawed rubies are described as ‘over ripened.’
